  • Patrick McCabe is a highly skilled editor with a natural passion for storytelling and technology. With more than 18 years of experience in drama and documentary cutting rooms, Patrick's approach to editing is that of a holistic collaborator. He sees the edit tools as a means to an end, helping to steer the project to its full potential.

    Patrick's work has gained recognition at the International Film Festivals of Rotterdam, São Paulo, Chicago, Gijón, Warsaw, Melbourne, Sydney and at Hot Docs (Toronto); multiple nominations at the Australian Screen Editors Guild “Ellie” awards; nominations and a win at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) awards. In Australia, his work has been broadcast and streamed on Network Ten, Stan., ABC TV, ABC’s iView, SBS TV, NITV and SBS On Demand.

    Patrick's storytelling techniques and eye for the perfect cut have crystalised across his body of work — a diverse array of scripted and unscripted long-form, short-form and multi-channel projects. His natural sense of rhythm is demonstrated through his history of songwriting and music production. He firmly believes in the power of editing as a provocation via the impeccable timing of picture and sound.

    In 2018, Patrick established Portmanteau Pictures, a company focused on producing uniquely Australian stories for international audiences. Patrick’s debut feature film as producer, Flathead, is released in 2024.

    The studio features high-speed internet and a separate workroom for producers, directors or assistant editors.

    The site includes off-street parking for cars and bicycles, and is accessible via public transport with train, tram and bus all close by.
